Poppy the Reading Dog.
Sat 07 May 2022Wrens class are very much enjoying reading to our new volunteer- Poppy the reading dog. Poppy is joining the class weekly to spend time with the children and to give them the opportunity to read to her.
Reading and therapy dogs are known to be a good way of supporting children who suffer from anxiety and can give the children something to really look forward to at school.
Many studies have shown that reading to dogs is also a great way to improve self-confidence and public speaking skills. This is because it provides an opportunity to speak out loud, but without the judgement of human company.
