Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

Mrs Longman is the school's P.E. leader.

We are pleased to work in partnership with the YMCA, who provide our coaching at lunchtime and provide every year group with a coaching session. Each class has a further PE session using the 'Real PE' scheme of work.

We are also proud to be part of the South Derbyshire Active Schools Alliance and look forward to engaging with a range of competitions and events through them.

At lunchtime, we have regular dance groups working with Miss Ingman, who is trained in ballet. We very much enjoy their performances in Collective Worship.

Every year, our year 6 pupils have Bikeability training.

From spring 2023, we will be returning to swimming lessons through Derbyshire County Council.

As a school, we recognise that not only is sport important in keeping healthy, it is also invaluable for building resilience and the concept of 'personal best' whereby children strive to improve on their previous performance.

Our year 6 children have their residential visit to Whitehall each September so that they have a shared experience of challenging themselves and going outside their comfort zone which can be drawn on throughout the year when they face their SAT tests and transition to secondary school.

We work hard to provide positive role models such as Olympic athletes and Paul Sturgess (a former member of the Harlem Globetrotters) to talk to the children about mindset and overcoming set backs.
