Over the past few days the children have been busy helping to establish our First Schools site.
We now have a lovely, safe area, separated from the rest of the site by a 45 metre long living willow fence. Behind the fence we have:
- several dens for the children to use and adapt;
- posts which children can sling hammocks between;
- a fire pit;
- our willow dome;
- a large area to pitch our tipee;
- a leader's chair and hand carved wooden benches.
The area will be finished in April when we'll get the logs and tree stumps to surround the fire pit, along with a wooden sign which the children will be making.
The staff and children have enjoyed seeing the area take shape - we can't wait for our children to learn and explore! This means that our children can continue to undertake Forest Schools off site and now on site.
