Climate change and sustainability

At Weston On Trent C of E (Aided) Primary School, we are proud to be part of a national journey that began in the spring of 2020—a journey that has tested the resilience of our education system and inspired a renewed sense of purpose. As we emerged from the challenges of the pandemic, we embraced a new mission: to Build Back Greener.

We believe that education is not only about academic achievement but also about preparing our children to thrive in a changing world. That’s why we are committed to embedding sustainability into every aspect of school life. From eco-friendly initiatives and outdoor learning to curriculum enrichment and community engagement, we are equipping our pupils with the knowledge, skills, and hope they need to become confident, compassionate stewards of the planet.

Our vision aligns with the national ambition to level up opportunities, foster innovation, and support the green economy. We want every child to understand the truth about climate change and to feel empowered to make a difference—whether through hands-on environmental projects or by exploring future green career pathways.

Together with our dedicated staff, families, and wider community, we are building an education system that is resilient, inclusive, and sustainable—one that nurtures both minds and nature.
