Poetry

This half-term, we started with a poem. We learnt to perform 'Call the Vet' by Paul Cookson.

Then, we had a go at writing our own stanza, following the same pattern.

Call the Vet

Wrens Version

Don’t put the dolphin in the present

Don’t put the flamingo in the cup

Don’t put the giraffe in Mr Hibbert’s office

That’s no place to put a pet!

Call the vet

Call the vet

That’s no place to put a pet!

Don’t put the polar bear in the cup

Don’t put the zebra in the wedding cake

Don’t put the otter in the volcano

That’s no place to put a pet!

Call the vet

Call the vet

That’s no place to put a pet!

Don’t put the squid in the toilet

Don’t put the shark in the bed

Don’t put the tortoise in the sink

That’s no place to put a pet!

Call the vet

Call the vet

That’s no place to put a pet!

Don’t put the cat in the pencil

Don’t put the snake in the pants

Don’t put the lion in Mrs Knowlson’s office

That’s no place to put a pet!

Call the vet

Call the vet

That’s no place to put a pet!

Don’t put the crocodile in the forest schools

Don’t put the sheep in the shell

Don’t put the kola in the kitchen

That’s no place to put a pet!

Stories with a beginning, middle and end

We had some mysterious beans arrive in our classroom. We planted them and it grow into a giant beanstalk! We learnt how the story has a beginning, middle and end. Soon, then told our own version of the story with different characters.
