It is very important to us that the children the opportunity to make their voices heard and to feel part of the whole school community.
We have previously had a School Council and this has worked to a point, but has not been as inclusive as we would like.
For this reason, we have decided to trial a different model: from September 2020, we are challenging the children to 'Be the Change'. If they feel strongly about something that could be better in or out of school, we will support them in making good things happen. For example: during the 2019-2020 academic year, one of our children felt very strongly about the need to reduce our use of plastics. Mrs Burns was working with her to share the message around school when we were unfortunately locked down. Another child has collected toiletries for the homeless and galvanised the whole school community to support her. This idea of courageous advocacy resonates with the Church of England's view of education.
As a Church of England School, this work will also resonate with the values underpinning all our teaching as well as our Collective Worship and work in PSHE.
If you have a suggestion for something which could be changed for the better please contact us either in person or using the form below. We check this weekly during term time.
